Pastor Reshorna, The Stone Temple Church Construct Stage Inside Community Garden

Pastor Reshorn Fitzpartick, Love Blooms Here Co-Founder and Stone Temple Missionary Baptist Church Founder, was featured in Block Club Chicago for the community stage built in Stone Temple’s community garden.

The stage was built for free with the help of grants and donated materials by Human Scale, a Chicago-based non-profit founded by a group of young architecture students using their skills to make a real impact in the community.

The stage, built in Stone Temple’s community garden, will serve as a safe space for people to share their stories and express their creativity.

It was built in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who spoke at Stone Temple during the Civil Rights movement. Human Scale Board Member and Project Manager Jorge Luis Mayorga told Block Club Chicago, “He used his voice for the community. We wanted to remember that and create a platform for people to stand up and voice their opinion.”

Pastor Reshorna summed it up best, “We’ll have … a collaborative of people coming together and sharing their stories and sharing their truths. Not a revisionist history, but the real history.”
